FAQS
How many panels does my home actually need?
That depends on your monthly consumption, roof size, and how much of your bill you want to eliminate. A typical 3-bedroom home in Nairobi runs well on a 3–5 kWp system. During your free audit, we calculate the exact number — never more than necessary, never fewer than optimal.
How long before the system pays for itself?
Most residential installations reach payback in 3–5 years, depending on your current electricity spend and system size. After that, every unit you generate is pure saving. With panels lasting 25+ years, you’re looking at two decades of virtually free electricity.
Will solar still work on cloudy days?
Yes. Modern panels generate power from diffused daylight, not just direct sun. Kenya’s cloud cover is mild compared to most countries where solar is mainstream. You may see a 20–30% dip on heavily overcast days, but you’ll still be generating — and a battery bank can cover the gaps entirely.
Do I need to go completely off-grid?
Not at all. Most of our customers stay grid-connected, using solar as their primary source and the grid as a backup. This hybrid model is the most practical — you get reliability without the higher cost of a full off-grid battery bank. Off-grid setups are also available if that’s your goal.
Is my roof strong enough?
Our structural assessment is part of every audit. Panels are surprisingly lightweight — around 11–13 kg each. The majority of roofs we assess are perfectly suitable. If yours needs any reinforcement, we’ll tell you honestly and help you plan it.
